Rafting along the Vetluga River
In some places Vetluga is quiet and picturesque, in places it has a wayward character, so it is suitable for rafting in kayaks and for traveling on an inflatable boat. On the river you can find a route of any complexity, both for experienced travelers and for discoverers. For example, the upper reaches of the river are suitable for real extreme lovers.
Begin a journey along the upper reaches, usually from the village of Kuneevo. Here the river is rather narrow (10-20 m), winding, its bottom is muddy or sandy, on rocky slopes - stony. On the banks of coniferous and mixed forests.
For tourists, the route is most popular on the middle course of Vetluga, from Sharya to Vetluzhsky, where you can raft not only on kayaks, but also on rafts. Kayakers come from Sharya station to the village of Golysh. The carpenters go to the village of Pustoshka, where rafts for Vetluga rafts are formed. Here you can build a raft, having previously obtained permission in the rafting office.
Although Vetluga in the lower reaches - a wide navigable river, but on this stretch the journey along it has its attractiveness. There are many good sandy beaches here. The left bank is mostly shallow, wooded, right - steeper, precipitous. In the floodplain are lakes and bays.
Below the confluence of the left tributary - Usta on the right bank of Vetluga is located a large village of Voskresenskoye, where you can make a day and make an excursion to the legendary lake Svetloyar.
At the village of Sutyri, located 9 km from the estuary, it is worthwhile to make a stop and visit the village of Yurino 5 km from Sutyary. Not far from the village in the shady park is the former manor of Count Sheremetev, built according to the project of the fortress architect Arkhipov. It looks like a medieval castle.
